One day, while he was reviewing his photographs, Brian noticed something unusual in the wall of a stone canyon. A face seemed to be looking back at him. Since that moment, in his photography, he has thought to uncover hidden characters, both real and imaginary, in the landscapes of the Cariboo, Chilcotin, and Thompson Nicola Regions of beautiful British Columbia’s interior. This book is the result of that search.
Brian Thorsteinson was born and raised in 100 Mile House, British Columbia, Canada. After graduating in 1973, he set out to work and travel his way around the globe. By the age of 25, he had trekked the Alps, the Andes, the Himalayas, and, of course, the Canadian Rockies, passing through countless countries and cultures along the way. In 1983, Brian moved to Toronto to study Swedish Massage, becoming a registered massage therapist. After graduating, he returned to his hometown of 100 Mile House where he continues to live and practice massage therapy today at the age of seventy.
While massage therapy has been an interesting and rewarding career for Brian, photography has always been his first love.
